Today I had a new experience. I was a judge in the 2007 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo BBQ Cookoff. I sampled 12 pies and more than 25 chickens. My favorite pie was apple with hints of jalapeño. Only in Texas.
The rodeo starts next week. Now I just need to find free (or free-ish) tickets.

Whoa, how does one manage to get to be a judge? Did you have to ration your bites as to not get full?

Hey you didnt eat that much when you ate at grannys . Oh well you didnt eat us out of house and home . Please send us some of that pie next time . popo

Jason, Shawn’s sister had the inside track. Her office was responsible for finding judges. I took small bites. Best chicken ever.
